You must be the OP in question, so if you have a footprint to give away do it. If I need to create one by hand it, once I have the layout, which is what I thought the OP's are asking for, it would take from 15 to 30 minutes, including a schematic! I use protel 99SE it has a wizard that can knock up a footprint in under a minute. One more point, if anyone with the footprint has indeed made it themselfs and spent hours apon hours perfecting it I would highly dount that they are going to give it away. It TOTALLY depends on your manufacturing process and the tolarences of the equipment, from the PCB manufacturer all the way to the soldering process. I doubt wether ANY PROFESSIONAL PCB designer would EVER use a footprint for their design straight out of the box.

Yes ther may be a lot EDA software out there but not much of it is any good for real PCB's.
I use Proteus to make my new device footprints where as others may use ExpressPCB or Eagle software (take a pick theres lots of software out there).
"Make your own footprint" with whatever software you have available. E-mail: Web: was unaware of how liitle you knew about the subject.

Samtec's full connector PCB libraries feature a complete part file incorporating footprint, schematic symbol, attributes, pin mapping/swapping, gate mapping/swapping, and alpha numeric pin names in a PADs format.Īdditionally, Samtec has joined forces with PCB Libraries, Inc., a rapidly growing CAD library management solutions provider, to offer IPC-compliant PCB footprints in 18 file types: With Samtec library parts, this critical translation is already completed, with the resulting footprint files checked against a known-good connector print. The slightest error in this process can lead to major headaches when boards are fabbed and components are placed. The designer must manually transfer this information from the data sheet into the footprint he is creating. Typically, these critical dimensions are communicated to the PCB designer through traditional print drawings and data sheets. In addition to saving hours of design effort, Samtec's libraries add an extra measure of protection in assuring accurate connector pad, hole, and mounting feature dimensions and locations.įor optimal mechanical and electrical performance, connector pad designs often deviate from standard IPC designs. Full parts allow gate and pin mapping and swapping making complex parts such as array connectors much easier to use. Dynamic linking of footprint and schematic data allows changes in either to be made and compared on the fly.
Such information speeds schematic capture based design flow and is critical for schematic circuit checking, bill of material generation, and automated board test and simulation. At a minimum, they provide the designer with a significant head start in library generation by providing critical component information in an easily customizable format.įull library parts contain schematic symbol data associated with the package footprint information. In many applications, Samtec generated libraries allow true cut and paste application of package outline, text, and recommended solder pad data. Samtec PCB libraries and footprints save designers hours of tedious, yet critical effort. continues its industry leading customer support with a greatly expanded offering of pre-generated, downloadable PCB CAD footprint files.
